I saw a picture of this mural on Flickr, and I thought is was a great mural. So I asked the photographer where he had found this one: West 21st Street between 8 and 9 Avenue in NYC. Last week I went over there to see for myself. This mural is ENORMOUS! I have never seen anything like this before. And it was very hard to get a good picture of it, especially with the fence in front of it, which is actually a pity, because his feet are also very funny (see below).

This is my contribution to Monday Mural, for more murals you can go to Oakland Daily Photo.
A little bit more information about this mural can be found here.

  1. Ik ben blij dat je hem hebt gevonden. Hij ziet er so grappig uit, beetje onbeholpen met dat korte broekje en die rare voeten.

  2. I have to admit, I would not want this staring at me through my bedroom window every morning. Any window at any time for that matter. Creepy looking.

    1. Funny that you think it is a creepy creature, all I see is a "little" guy that I like :-).

  7. After an initial look, I realised it is really a very, very complex mural. Would be amazing if some photos were around 'somewhere' of it being done? It is very large!!

  8. @ CaT
@ Rose from Oz is back:
via this link (http://www.freshnessmag.com/2010/08/10/os-gemeos-x-futura-new-mural-nyc/) you can see some photos while they were painting this thing on the wall. I spoke to a guy who lives across the street from this mural and he told me that they projected this creature on the wall and then painted the lines on the wall. The whole process took about two weeks. (I would have thought it would take much longer than two weeks)

  9. This is hysterical. Kind of Beavis and Butthead looking. Which may be part of the joke. I checked out your link but found no info on who commissioned it or why. Imagine a mural the size of a Macy's parade balloon. Thanks for participating in this week's Monday Mural.

    1. I have found a little bit more info on the mural:
The mural is on a wall of P.S. 11, William T. Harris elementary school. It’s theme is a message of international unity Os Gemeos says, “We are using different flags painted with non traditional colours. The idea is ‘one world one voice’, no borders, no separation, just everything and everyone working together for a single cause that is a better world.”

Completed on the 13th August 2010 it was directed by creative studio AKANYC and street art website 12ozProphet with support from Nike.

  10. ahh, I have no idea why, but one thought that went through my head, before reading your comments, was that maybe it had something to do with soccer and the Wold Cup.
It seems some explanation for these murals is a good thing! I quite like it, but his face does look a little ...antagonistic.
