Today I found an amazing piece of public art while wandering around. First I thought, "Man, this piece has probably been here for ages already and I only just discover it now". But after a little research on the internet tonight I found out this piece was unveiled in Petrosino Square May 20, 2012. So I only didn't know about it for two weeks. (this will be on display through September 23, 2012)

It is called 'Survival of Serena' and is made by Carole Feuerman, a New York based artist. She is known for her hyperrealistic sculptures of swimmers and bathers. I was (and am) amazed by the details in this sculpture (painted bronze). She has some hairs peeking from under her bathing cap, there are water drops on her arms and face, here eyelashes and eyebrows are amazing! For some reason I only made three photos of this sculpture. (it was quite busy with people who wanted to pose next to Serena, I think I got bored waiting for a moment without all these people...)

  4. Wat een schitterend beeld is dat, zo levensecht. IK dacht echt dat het een foto van een slapend meisje was. Prachtig.
    Fijne Zondag!
